One of the regular features of this here blogola is the sharing of radio commercials I have had some part in bringing to life. I like writing commercials that are funny, quirky, attention-getting, and–most importantly–EFFECTIVE! When people tell our clients “I heard your commercial on the radio” that makes me the happiest of campers.
We’ll start with a couple of written-and-produced-by-me spots that are airing (or soon will be) in Alliance and Chadron. First, we got the glee club together for this Kloch’s Liquor spot:
Next: something Halloweenyish for Home Haven Furniture and Appliance. That’s me as Dracula and Gles doing a fiendish voice that defies description.. it’s a little dollop of a young Boris Karloff…
Up next: commercials that you would have to drive vast distances to hear if I didn’t share them with you on my blog. Well, actually, all of our company’s radio stations are streaming online but the driving thing sounded more impressive. The point is, these aren’t airing here in the panhandle because they were done for other markets. I don’t get asked to voice things for our other markets very often, owing to what the French would call the “je ne sais Meh” of my voice. But sometimes it happens, and they’re fun.
In North Platte they know me as Joe Bob Sugarmaker, spokesyokel for a western wear store. They give me a script and I “hillbilly it up” with little asides and mutterings. These are a lot of fun to do.
And then–just today! Sam The Eagle (his name is Sam and he works for Eagle–anything for a Muppet reference) sent me a script to record. I sent him my audio and he wrapped it all up in nifty sound effects. Love commercials that paint a picture!
So there you go. Commercials. Made with tender loving care in small batches.
