(Actually, I think Pat Adriance’s artwork was the big draw for this book. Get it? Draw? Har har harrrrrrrrrrr de har har!)
Hey! Remember when I wrote a book? I sure do. It was a creatively satisfying endeavor and to my surprise and delight, I sold some. Quite a few more than I thought! Profitability? Jusssssssssssssssst barely. But it wasn’t about the money. It was about proving something to myself, and about fulfilling my Mom’s belief that I am a good writer. Or a writer at least.
Today I saw an email from a fellow named Von Murphy. I don’t care if it’s a scam or not—I just love the name Von Murphy. He could be a golf player…a classical pianist…a pimp. Who knows?
Well, in real life, Von Murphy (if that’s his real name) is apparently interested in “Wentyworld: The Book”:

This is a scam, right? Yeah…it’s a scam. I think. To be fair, I have a feeling that the difference between published author and scam victim is razor thin. My book was published by a wonderful independent publisher based in Rochester New York. He was trustable and up front about everything.
I am tempted to call Von Murphy and see what the deal is. The kicker is, I don’t have a second book. Well, actually I never had a first book. I had a mish-mosh of blog posts. So this time, I’d have to be really clever and entertaining and all those things. Let’s see…..I’ve got it! A midwestern radio announcer, who is 50% of the on air staff, is worried that his livelyhood is withering like a flower gifted at Easter and dying at Thanksgiving.
Completely fictional of course.
Cough.
Or maybe for KCOW’s upcoming 80th anniversary I could interview stories about former and current employees about the station. It would be all funny and/or embarassing stories. None of that serious heartwarming jazz. We’ll hold that concept till the 85th.
