A brief update today, but a meaningful one.
UC Denver Health has returned my call! I am going to see one of their craniumologists on July 1st.
Having to go all the way to Denver just to TALK to a doctor is not the most convenient thing in the world, but it’s the first step in the road to getting my Chiari malformation (and mild hydrocephalus) tended to.
I’m a little nervous about where things go from here, I won’t lie. I have somehow lived 47 years on this planet without surgery of any kind. It would be nice to have some experience in the OR before what I am told is a fairly complicated brain surgery. You know, maybe have my tonsils out or a broken arm or something. But no! I’m starting right out with brain surgery!
Since I had to cancel my trip to Los Angeles earlier this year, and a long vacation is not in the cards for the remainder of 2019, I am going to take the occasion of this trip to do something fun in Denver. See a show, visit a museum…SOMETHING fun. Because odds are my next trip to Denver will be spent in surgery.
