Well, I am zonked out today but it’s entirely worth it. I spent last evening at Alliance’s mystic house of fun known as the Dead Unicorn Society, for the album premiere party of Kalin Krohe’s “Deja Vu”! Great music, great food, great friends….you can’t ask for much more than that.
Just to get you up to speed, here is the official promotional video for the album, directed by David Kuskie and narrated by some silk-voiced charmer:
So let’s go to the Dead Unicorn Society for Wentyworld.com Full Team Coverage of the “Deja Vu” album premiere! If you’ve never been to the DUS, you are denying yourself a visual feast, plus the kind of feast you eat.
I limited myself to one “Deja Vu” joke. Well…two.
The fantastic Gabriel The Brute got things underway with a great set of all-original tunes, a tip of the hat to Herr Kroheim’s devotion to original songwriting. In a world of cover bands and karaoke, Kalin is a true American original.
The K-Man shows off some sartorial splendor.
The Shon Townsend Band kept the DUS rocking with a fantastic set of tunes…
Kalin did not have a hamburger before the show, so he was kind of hungry towards the end of the evening. L to R: Krohe, Wenty, Kenzie Cat and Kalin’s brother Keldrin!
I was so glad to see both Krohe brothers in the house.
I had a chat with the man of the hour…
Kalin sings the title track from “Deja Vu”…
“Dive”.
In addition to Kenzie Cat, Keldrin, KCOW’s Alex Benzegala and other guests, Mr. Kite made an appearance! And that led to a couple of performances to warm the heart of Krohe fans from way back…
Those irrepressible Riverfront Boys sing “He Wasn’t Free”. (I am the Jason in “chickens peckin’ at Jason’s jeans.”)
And here’s Kalin and Jeremy singing a Krohe classic: “Charity Of The Heart.”
All told, it was a spectacular evening…and here’s how the album sounds:
