I’m writing this Wednesday night November 22nd, 2023.
This is not a good time for me to write something about how blessed and thankful I am.
I am in pain from surgery on my arm. I’ve been a huge pest about it to my friends and coworkers. But, and please pardon my french here, it really fucking hurts. Like, everything I do hurts because my left arm is involved in everything. I’m left-handed. This thing is going to get better. But right now it just hurts like hell and makes me want to get a chain saw and cut off my left arm. Or my head.
But….Thanksgiving. A time to be thankful. A time to count one’s blessings. And I got a lot.
2023 is the year that began with me spending two months in one hospital or another. If not for Kalin Krohe I might not have made it past January 15th. It’s one thing to have great friends, it’s a whole other deal to have friends who save your life.
I am thankful to my Olivia Newton-Boss and others in the management world of Eagle Radio who have stood by me during the illness and put up with the marathon of doctor appointments that my life has become.
I am thankful that dialysis is not usually a drain on my life. I have been cut down to two treatments a week instead of three which is a very good sign! But you’ll notice I said “not USUALLY” a drain on my life. The fact is, dialysis wipes me out every time and this week, because of the holiday, I ended up having dialysis on the day I do a big radio special with Kalin and Jeremy Fifield. And I don’t feel like it went as well as it should have. I did a remote earlier this year on a dialysis day and I felt like my performance was rotten.
Anyway, blessings and thankfulness. Allow me to get back on track.
Honestly, I am truly blessed. I get to do my morning show four days a week (better than three!). I get to enjoy fun experiences with my friends, like concerts, a day at the lake, recording internet radio shows, attending galas (pronounced gah-lahzz or gay-luz) and the like.
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope your arm doesn’t hurt.
