I’ve been fortunate enough to interview a handful of notable figures in my radio life.. some of my favorites were dropped in my lap by a fellow named Corey Sorenson, who was a salesperson for our radio stations. These were classic-era artists performing at area venues, and we did the interviews primarily to promote the gig and sell some tickets. But along the way I had the incredible opportunity to visit with the likes of Ron Dante (The Archies), Davy Jones, and Nelson (promoting a tribute performance for their Dad Ricky).
Today’s Fuzzy Radio Memory features Bill Medley, half of the top duo in the classic rock and roll era: The Righteous Brothers. Because Medley had so many interesting elements in his performing career, I produced the interview into a half-hour feature with certain songs and other audio folded in.
Several years after this interview aired on KCOW, I finally got a chance to see Bill Medley perform in fabulous Las Vegas. He was once again a Righteous Brother, this time with singer Bucky Heard sitting in for the late Bobby Hatfield. He sang all the favorites and sounded marvelous!
